Climatological
outlook for the month of July:-
July is one of the rainiest months for
Delhi with
average rainfall of 225.3 mm. However,
it does not rain daily even during this rainiest month. On an average, the city receives rainfall on
14 days. There is a large year to year
variation in the rainfall over the city.
The highest rainfall recorded during the month of July has been 632.2 mm
in 2003 whereas the lowest was 4.1 mm in the year 1941. According to the long range forecast of IMD,
the rainfall over the country as a whole in the month of July 2008 is likely to
be 98% of its LPA with a model error of ± 9%.
At present, week monsoon conditions
are prevailing over northwest India
including Delhi. The weak conditions are likely to continue
during the first week of July. Consequently,
warm and sultry conditions are likely during the week. However, some rainfall likely
during second half of the week providing relief from the sultry weather.
