MAIN WEATHER OBSERVATIONS (recorded during past 24 hours) 

 

·           Fairly widespread rainfall has occurred over, coastal Karnataka and Vidarbha, scattered over west Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Lakshadweep and Tripura between 0830-1730 hours IST of today. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm (≥ 3 cm) recorded at 1730 hours IST of today are: Honavar-11, Agumbe-9, Shirali and Mangalore-7 each, Karwar-5, Pachmari-4, Vengurla, Akola, Shajapur, Malda, Kailashahar and Shantiniketan-3 each.

·            KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery at 1730 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Gangetic West Bengal, Maharashtra, northeastern states, east Arabian Sea, north and central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Low/medium clouds are seen over rest parts of the country.

Synoptic features (based on 1730 hrs IST)

 

·           The low pressure area over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining west Madhya Pradesh persists. It is likely to move west-northwestwards.

·           The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Phalodi, Kota, Centre of low pressure area, Raipur, Kalingapattinam and thence southeastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal.

·           The off shore trough runs from south Gujarat coast to Konkan coast.

Major features of weather forecast (upto 1730 hours IST of 02 August, 2010)

 

·            Widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over west coast.

·            Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and adjoining northern plains, central and northeast India.

·            Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter.

Warning

 

·          Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over north Madhya Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada during next 24 hours.

·          Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over Uttrakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa and coastal Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 48 hours.

Weather Outlook (upto 1730 hours IST of 04 August, 2010)

 

·        Fairly widespread rainfall would occur over west coast, northwest, east and northeast India.
